Detox & Cleanse ![]() |
The word detox brings to mind juicing and perhaps dieting in order to cleanse the body and organs of toxins. However most scientific research does not support that these practices lead to bodily cleansing. Research shows that the body's organs (liver, kidneys, etc) are very efficient at clearing toxins from the body on their own. Some people who engage in detox programs report significant and power spiritual benefits. However, safety and education are key when it comes to your health and incorporating changes to nutrition.
Fresh juices, smoothies, etc, can serve as an inspiration to jumpstart a change in lifestyle. And if the concoction includes healthy ingredients that you would ordinarily miss in your diet, then this can be a wonderful addition to your healthy diet. Below is a recipe for a delicious smoothie that I've named "Green Energy." Feel free to check it out and try it for yourself. Shanti! Green Energy Smoothie Ingredients: 1 cup- Hemp milk (or soy, almond, rice or beverage of your choice), 1- banana, 6-8 stems- Kale, 1/4 cup- apple juice (if you like it sweeter, but I find it sweet without the apple juice.) Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. |
